Dr Shoukat Dedhar, BC Cancer Agency, UBC, $682,500 over five years, is focusing on how a group of receptors, integrins, and a protein that he identified, ILK, react to their microenvironment to regulate cell growth, movement and death. This work may lead to the development of more effective therapies for cancer.

 Tanya Hutchens Holds Promise for Development of Effective Cancer Therapies

Researchers Dr. Marc Therrien at the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) of the Université de Montréal, and Dr. Frank Sicheri, at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, have discovered a new target that may be instrumental in the development of new, more effective cancer therapies.
